Project overview

The First Direct Bank Arena, part of ASM Global  –  is an iconic concert venue, situated in the heart of Leeds city centre.

In 2023, they embarked on a digital elevation project, as part of a broader strategy across ASM venues to enhance guest engagement and modernise their infrastructure. 

To achieve this, they were looking to incorporate solutions that allowed for dynamic promotions across their bar, concourse and merchandise areas, alongside an appetite for large format internal and external LED for both promotional and advertising purposes.

Merson Digital had previously provided wide-ranging Audio-visual solutions across the ASM Global’s European estate, and were therefore the natural candidates for bringing First Direct Bank Arena’s vision into reality.

THE SOLUTION

The project included the installation of cutting-edge visual displays, including large-scale external LED and internal LED/LCD screens for wayfinding, merchandising, and promotions. 

71 bar screens, using a combination of 50 and 65 inch TFT LCD displays are used to show concert-goers the latest food and beverage deals. The digital menu boards can be changed instantly using Navori CMS, to reflect local changes, or for new marketing strategies.

10 Internal LEDs are incorporated at the main entrance, as well as along the main walkways and staircases in the arena. These are used to show upcoming events, advertise merchandise stands, as well as provide wayfinding guidance for event attendees.

All screens at the First Direct Bank Arena are controlled via Navori, with the CMS being utilised across merchandising, wayfinding and food & beverage areas.

LARGE FORMAT
EXTERNAL LED

Outside, at the main entrance to the venue – sit two large format external LED screens, each measuring 6 metres x 3.3 metres. The stunning 6mm LED illuminates upcoming events to passers-by, whilst propelling the arena firmly into the 21st century.

The 6mm outdoor, IP65 rated LED display chosen allows for visibility in all weather conditions.

Additionally, Merson Signs, another brand within the Merson Group designed, manufactured, and installed new First Direct Bank Arena signage that sits above the external LED displays.
